Naturalista : A Black female who takes pride in her Black hair (hair that is not permed or been chemically changed in anyway).A naturalista is someone who wears their hair the way that it naturally grows out of their scalp. This could mean they have curly, wavy or “kinky” hair. Whichever “hair type” they may identify with, they love and accept themselves because they know and understand that they are beautiful in their anatomy.
I define myself as a naturalista I have so much pride in showing off my fro. I love my hair and how perfect it is. My hair saysI’M STRONG!!!! My hair saysI’M BEAUTIFUL andI’M POWERFUL !!! I take pride in my hair and how it stands out. I started my YouTube Channel a year ago to help other naturalistas and encourage anyone interested in going natural. I love to help others realize just how amazing being natural is.
I take this moment to encourage you to embrace your natural side no matter what others may say. Don’t be ashamed of what’s yours take pride of your natural state. Thank you for your support in advance and don’t forget to share with your friends.
One day I woke up and notice my hair had no shape to it. I had done a two strand twist the night before and notice that my hair wasn’t laying right. I pulled and tugged, fluffed and picked my hair to get the look as close as I wanted it to look. Wow!! That was a lot of work. As the day went on I notice my hair was in need of a cut BAD!!!
The Deva Cut method :
My hair never took that much pulling and tugging to get my favorite look!!! So I did some research to find out what kind of cut I should get and fell upon the Deva Cut..The DEVA CUT Method is a method where the hair is cut dry mainly because curly hair is wore dry not wet. The curls are cut curl by curl which helps give the desired shape and style.
I have to say I was very happy with my cut. Since my cut my hair feels so much lighter. My hair has so much body and bounce. By my next Two strand twist and wash-n-go I could feel the difference. I really have fun now that I am not wasting time pulling and picking my fro out for my desired look. Time has gone by and my hair is growing into the shape that was cut. I have to say as time goes on my hair is growing and I love it more and more each day. I have totally embrace my DEVA CUT, I feel like one of a kind when I walk through these city streets lol.
During my DEVA CUT experience there were a few staple products used in my hair that made all the difference.
As you may already know I stopped relaxing my hair in 2013. I started transitioning styles in 2014 and big chopped at the end of 2014. The transitioning stage was a learning stage for me. I had to learn about 2 different textures straight and curly. It was a hard time for me but I didn’t give up.
I want to encourage all my future and present natural hair sisters to keep on pushing. Your hair is beautiful and strong. If you love your hair and care for it, it will love you back and shine. I do know it is time consuming but all things beautiful take time to nurture.
I created a video for people that are transitioning because a lot of people ask me questions about what products I used when I was transitioning. I’m happy to say that I have and am still helping people transition and learn about there hair.
I’m always looking for heatless ways to style my hair as I have experienced heat damage in the past. I really haven’t straighten my hair since May 2015 and I am proud of that. So when I found out about the Curlformers I jumped at the chance to try them. I did have a little bit of a hard time with it at first but once I got my technic down pack I was on a roll. The picture to the left was my first time trying them out and I must say I think it came out pretty good. I absolutely love this product. If your looking for a different look and feel then you have to try this it out for yourself.
